Often we are at a crossroads during difficult times. We can use this as an opportunity to learn about ourselves and get new insight into our hopes and desires. It is not about “just taking some dancing lessons – then you will relax and feel better". This is the sort of surface-level advice that really isn't helpful. What we are actually interested in is something deeper: goals and passions, not hobbies and distractions.
The key question you must ask yourself is "what makes me tick?" This concept can be difficult to understand. Many of us think that academic or financial success is what makes us tick. However, these are things that may help us live the life we want, but they don’t necessarily make us tick! It is important to spend some time actively thinking about what makes you tick. This is what we will do over the next few pages.
